Server

Couldn't start or find resource

Couldn't start resource my_script.

The server cannot locate a resource or its manifest. Almost always a folder name or fxmanifest problem.

Could not find dependency

Could not find dependency oxmysql for resource qb-core.

A resource lists another resource as a dependency, but that one is missing, misnamed or started too late.

License key missing or rejected

No license key was specified / Server license key authentication failed

Every FiveM server needs a valid Cfx.re license key in server.cfg before it will start.

Connection

Players can't connect or the server is not in the list

Failed to connect: server didn't respond

The server is running, but players cannot reach it. Usually closed ports or a firewall.

attempt to index a nil value

SCRIPT ERROR: @my_script/client.lua:42: attempt to index a nil value (global 'ESX')

The script uses a variable that does not exist yet. With frameworks it is usually the old shared object event.

Error parsing script (Lua syntax error)

Error parsing script @my_script/server.lua: unexpected symbol near '!'

The file is not valid Lua, so the whole script fails to load. Often habits from JavaScript or C#.

oxmysql cannot connect to the database

[oxmysql] Unable to establish a connection to the database (ECONNREFUSED / ER_ACCESS_DENIED_ERROR)

The database is not running, the connection string is wrong, or it is set after oxmysql starts.

Server thread hitch warning

The server froze for a moment. A few at startup are normal; constant hitches mean a script or the machine is too slow.

Oversized assets warning

Asset my_car/my_car.ytd uses 48.0 MiB of physical memory. Oversized assets can and WILL lead to streaming issues.

A streamed texture or model is too large. Players see invisible cars, missing textures or crashes.

Reliable network event overflow

Disconnected: Reliable network event overflow.

A script sends too many or too large network events, so the player is disconnected.

A protected (escrowed) resource is running on a server whose license key belongs to a different Cfx.re account.
