License key missing or rejected

Every FiveM server needs a valid Cfx.re license key in server.cfg before it will start.

The error
No license key was specified / Server license key authentication failed

Why it happens

  • sv_licenseKey is missing from server.cfg, or the file you edit is not the one the server loads.
  • The key was copied with extra spaces or without quotes.
  • The key was regenerated or revoked on the Cfx.re portal.

How to fix it

  1. Sign in to the Cfx.re portal and create or copy a server key.
  2. Add it to server.cfg:

  1. If you use txAdmin, check which server.cfg it points to under Settings.
  2. Never share the key publicly. If it leaked, regenerate it on the portal.
